My fingers hurt. I just spent five minutes fishing inside my printer for my contact lens case. Please, don't ask why my contacts were in the printer. Please...I'm begging..

Oh, fine. I put them ontop of the printer while I was cleaning my desktop off and they fell inside, inspiring a mad, scrabbling search with my fingertips inside the paper slot of my little school-bought printer. I got 'em out, but my knuckles are screaming at me.

And not even five minutes after that, I remembered where my Music in Society disk was!! A few days ago, I'd been looking through the four-CD set and was a bit disturbed to find that there were only three CDs there. I had just emptied my CD player and my discman, so it couldn't be in there. I couldn't think for the life of me where it could have gotten to. I looked through all my soft-case CD holders and didn't find anything. It wasn't until I was opening something on my computer and I heard the CD-ROM humming that I remembered: I'd been playing around with the enhanced visual guides when I was studying for my last test and had forgotten to take it out again. So, I've got Disc Three!!! YAAY!!

And I'm getting more music as we speak. Tser is sending me something because I had forgotten that I uninstalled Napster some time ago because I wasn't using it. But I really wanna hear this song, so I'm gonna upload it from her site shortly. Then, I'll get my ass in gear and...do something. I dunno. I finished my papers for EN 111 last night and turned them in this morning, which was good, but I can't think of anything else to do with myself between now and my next class. I figure I'll either read...or I'll read.

I've been so creatively dry lately. Of the two stories I've had in the works (plus the collection of shorts I might be doing for Baxil, nothing has been touched in a few weeks. I've got "Angel Tripper" which is the more recent stuff (if you don't include the shorts) and I've been having problems with it because I wanted to do it in first person and the main character has decided to take a nice little vacation on me. Mike (dammit, NO connection to Mike Mills!!!) is AWOL, but I've still got Luke, Harry, Gabe and Jamie. Which doesn't do me much good unless I write a few shorts with one of them as main characters because Mike is my narrator in first friggin' person. Maybe I'll work with Harper and her bro for a while.

I've also been working on something else which is still pretty much untitled. At the moment, it's sort of called "RCA" or "Rafe Cramer Anderson" but I'm not sure what it's really called. Hell, I might end up calling it "Carrots" depending on if I do anything with it in the end. It's sort of a short about a woman being haunted by a ghost of someone she doesn't know but the guy seems really confused and keeps calling her his "Chosen One".

Oh, god, it's been so long since I worked on Grey Sea that I almost forgot about it! Another semi-serious short that was actually inspired by a Dido song, as much as I hate to admit it. I've got a lot to learn about agoraphobia before I finish that one, though. Too much research and not quite enough story, which seems to be a chronic problem of mine.

Problems with all of these:

"Angel Tripper": dependant on Mike as the narrator. Mike doesn't like to give details and tends to assume you know what he's talking about, whether you do or not. He likes to tell stories but doesn't give the details that would make the stories real the way I'd like him to. Luke is a much better description writer, but this isn't Luke's story. It's Mike and dammit, the boy's on vacation now.

"RCA": I haven't the foggiest idea of where it's going. I don't even know who or what Rafe is for sure at the moment, which makes plot pretty damn difficult to pan out.

"Grey Sea": Again, too much research and not enough story. It's a fairly long story, but the characters are like white-hot flashes in my mind, real rich in colors and almost over-flashy but I can't seem to get that to translate. My writing has taken an almost greyish tone lately and I'm not sure exactly why or how I can fix it. I guess my description needs some serious work, which is why I started doing pure descriptions at Snapshit.

Mental note to NEVER EVER read Stephen King after dark. Even with all the lights on. I've been sleeping with my desk lamp on during the night. I'm reading "It" and dammit if this isn't a story that would give a grown person Clownaphobia. On the way over to Evelyn's last night, I forced myself to look down a storm drain just to see if there was anything looking back up at me. I keep hearing this rickety voice whispering, "Of course they float...everything floats down here." Should be interesting to see how I survive the rest of the year with 800 pages left to go...
